The Highland Center in Monterey, Virginia.  The Highland Center’s mission is to serve all citizens of Highland County by being a catalyst for  cultural and economic development, and to preserve a historic landmark as a symbol of unity and pride.

 

ProjectGrows

Project GROWS seeks to address obesity in Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro by giving children and youth opportunities to grow produce, compost vegetable waste, and learn about nutrition. Goals: 1.Create community farming activities accessible to children, youth, and community members.2.Provide service opportunities for youth to become leaders in community farming activities. 3.Provide nutrition education to children, youth, their families, and community members.
4.Make high-quality, nutritious food available to members of the community that lack access, especially the families of children and youth involved in programs. 5.Promote growing your own produce for families and members of the community.

NCP New Community Project (NCP) in Harrisonburg, VA, is a program of New Community Project, a faith-based nonprofit organization committed to the creation of sustainable systems that care for the earth, empower people most marginalized and impoverished, educate and inspire, and build the foundation for a nonviolent lifestyle. They work to create transformation at both the personal level and community level in three key areas that have the highest impact; food, transportation, and built environment.
VCC
Valley Conservation Council Serving the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia, including Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Botetourt, Frederick, Highland, Page, Rockbridge, Rockingham, Shenandoah, and Warren counties and their communities. Valley Conservation Council promotes land use that sustains the farms, forests, open spaces and cultural heritage of the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia. VCC’s members make a difference by helping keep land open, intact and productive, restore and protect the vital waters of our streams and rivers and encourage better development with vibrant towns and cities.
VSDBVirginia School for the Deaf and the Blind exists to provide an environment which fosters self-confident students who are contributing citizens and life-long learners and to be a resource of excellence for the communities of Virginia who serve students with deafness and or blindness. Our mission at the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind is to provide educational and residential services that promote: Value for each person and their unique abilities, Success in meeting each student’s academic goals, Diversity in instruction to meet the needs of all students, Building opportunities that foster expertise in technology and its integration, communication, and achievement for all staff and students and their families.
